The storms of life can come at us all of a sudden. We are sailing along and then, wham! We are in the middle of a storm and feel that Jesus is asleep! What we need is faith. Now, Jesus is not going to calm all the seas that we encounter, but he is not asleep. He is beside us helping us ride out the storm. As I sit here this morning, we have been brushed by a hurricane, which didn’t cause us much inconvenience, let alone damage. However, parts of the Caribbean were hit by the full force of the storm, and I’m sure that many people there are wondering if God was asleep! The forces of nature are something that we all deal with regardless of where we live. It can be a hurricane, a tornado, a blizzard, flooding rains, or a drought. It doesn’t matter what it is if it affects us. What we can do is help those who are affected in whatever ways possible for us. We can reach out to neighbours, donate money or clothing to relief effortless, and we can certainly pray for those who are suffering from the storm. In the personal storms of life, we can trust that the Lord is with us, that we are not alone. Part of our daily prayer can be asking God to be present to those who are suffering that day. We may not know anyone in trouble, but we can be sure that someone is in need of prayer. God knows who needs our prayers and will be sure to answer them.

Life can be likened to a bouquet of roses, each with its unique charm. Some roses sparkle like raindrops, while others lose their luster in the absence of sunlight. Some roses wilt away with time, while others bloom in a kaleidoscope of colors. Some roses sag with drooping petals, while others captivate with their beauty. However, it is vital to acknowledge that the perception of beauty resides in the eyes of the beholder.
