The United States was founded on principles of justice, integrity, and a government accountable to its people—a vision carefully crafted by the Founding Fathers to ensure a fair and transparent democracy. However, in recent years, concerns about corruption, nepotism, and the erosion of judicial independence have sparked intense debate about the direction of American governance. […]

Downstairs a trumpeter is playing Gershwin badly but somehow truer that way.
The squat chimney of my pipe keeps offering smoke signals to the moon. The sea-waves glitter like a zillion
nickels… Two wars ago the battle of the Riviera happened here. Two wars ago the author of The Little Prince flew southward from this coast and crashed at sea without a trace. That’s how I tell the time these days-by wars, the madness of wars. I think of Mussolini, who believed each generation needed war to purify its blood. He leaned on history to show that life’s unlivable except through death. I palm the ashes from my pipe. To hell with Mussolini I’11 take bad Gershwin to a bullet any time. To hell with history. The moon’s manna on the sea outshines the glory that was Greece. To hell with those who say the earth’s a battleground we’re doomed to govern with a gun. Because of them we have to fight to live. But win or lose, they’ve won since fighting proves they’re right. Why ask if they outnumber us or not?
As we look ahead, it’s clear we face a challenge with our dwindling petrol reserves. Every year, we see those supplies decrease. So, what will we do when they run out? It may lead us back to more traditional methods of transport—think horses, carriages, and bicycles!
During the Second World War, innovative individuals found solutions by creating gas from wood and plants, storing it in large bags on top of their vehicles. While these cars were slower, they served a vital purpose in difficult times, reminding us that resourcefulness can overcome challenges. Yet, we must find a balance; our forests are invaluable for many reasons, and we can’t rely solely on them.
In addition to gas, we can transition to electric vehicles, which is an exciting prospect! However, we need to generate that electricity in a sustainable manner. Some countries utilise coal, but that’s not a long-term solution. Others harness the power of mighty rivers, making electricity production both efficient and accessible.
And don’t forget about tidal energy! By placing turbines in river mouths, we can capture energy from the ebb and flow of tides. The ocean’s waves also hold incredible potential to power our future.
As we explore these possibilities, it’s clear there are numerous viable paths for generating electricity in the years to come. With creativity, commitment, and cooperation, we can tackle our energy needs head-on and build a brighter tomorrow. What do you think will emerge as the primary energy source in the near future?
