But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
“Many people give with the expectation of receiving something in return. This is natural, as we are taught to invest our resources where we will benefit the most. However, to truly embody the virtues of benevolence, it is important to give unconditionally, without considering merit or expected reciprocation.
Lord, thank You for loving me, serving me, and giving abundantly to me even though I could never earn Your generosity. I confess that I am at times selfish and stingy with my resources. So empower me to be more like You, to give and love out of compassion, for the sake of Your kingdom, so that Your power may be revealed in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
This is similar to the generosity shown by the divine, who bestows upon us without any expectation of repayment and whose gifts are immeasurable.”
