Jesus ⚜️🙏⚜️

Lord God, You know the desires of my heart. You know all that I hope to be and do. You know when my plans are wise, and when they are foolish. Reveal to me, Lord, and need to realign my plans, so that I may walk in step with Your will and purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, amen. ⚜️🙏⚜️

Once again, God is warning the people against injustice.

People with low incomes and the vulnerable have always been the prey of those who would take advantage of others.

It was happening in Israel then, and it is happening today. The widows of that time were particularly vulnerable as they depended on their husbands or sons to provide for them.

At least today, there is some protection, but not in all parts of the world, and not so that most families can keep their homes or their standard of living if they lose a spouse.

And there are still those who will take advantage of the situation! We know that low-income people are also open to being preyed upon.

It is not uncommon for people experiencing poverty to work several jobs to have a roof over their heads and food for their children.

However, these same people might only be able to get jobs that pay little and have no benefits and who can lose their jobs if they are sick or need to take time off.

In parts of the world where it is difficult to find work, injustices can be worse.

Some countries limit the opportunities for those who do not follow the religion of the majority, and they put barriers that limit those given access to education.

Unscrupulous business owners underpay employees or lay them off as they rise in their positions to hire people who will accept less pay.

This warning from Isaiah reminds them that even if the world does not judge them, they will be judged by God.

It is also a reminder that you can’t take it with you!

We are responsible for working for justice as best we can and for laws protecting those who need it.

AMEN ⚜️🙏⚜️

Life can be likened to a bouquet of roses, each with its unique charm. Some roses sparkle like raindrops, while others lose their luster in the absence of sunlight. Some roses wilt away with time, while others bloom in a kaleidoscope of colors. Some roses sag with drooping petals, while others captivate with their beauty. However, it is vital to acknowledge that the perception of beauty resides in the eyes of the beholder.
