For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
You reap what you sow. Nobody plants tomato seeds and expects them to produce watermelons. Likewise, we should not expect to produce the fruit of the Spirit if we plant seeds of selfishness, pride, and indulgence. Doing the things that encourage envy will not grow a spirit of kindness within us. Nor can we cultivate self-control by feeding our lusts. To produce the fruit of righteousness, we must walk in righteousness.
Lord, help me to train my thoughts toward the things of heaven. Fill me with Your Spirit so that my actions may honour You and advance Your kingdom. Lead me to opportunities to sow acts of kindness and love so that peace and joy may bloom and prosper. Guard my heart against impure motives that lead to destruction. In Jesus’ name, amen.
