What Are Atheism and Secularism? — Ligonier Ministries
Atheism and secularism have become increasingly prevalent in today’s society, and thus it is important for us to understand what these terms mean. Atheism is the belief that there is no God or gods, while secularism holds that religion should have no place in public life.

The rise of atheism and secularism has led to a number of debates within society about the role of religion in public life. Some argue that religion should have no place in public life, while others argue that it is essential for religious beliefs to be represented in the public sphere.

From a Christian perspective, atheism and secularism represent a significant challenge to the Christian faith. Christians believe in the existence of God and in the importance of religion in our lives. However, the rise of atheism and secularism has led to a decline in the number of people who believe in God, and has made it more difficult for Christians to express their beliefs publicly.

Despite the challenges posed by atheism and secularism, Christians must continue to stand firm in their beliefs and to share them with others. We must continue to champion the importance of faith in our personal lives and in the public sphere, and to resist the pressures of a secular culture that seeks to marginalize religion.
