If Jesus came to Today would we Recognize Him?

Isa. 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

(Isaiah saw the Messiah in a much different way than Israel would have imagined him.

Even the religious paintings through the centuries have pictured Jesus with a gold plate behind His head.

People seem to swoon in His presence wherever He is seen through misguided artist renderings.

But Isaiah said Jesus would grow up like a plant unnoticed.

He was born and raised in a humble setting.

Nathanial said, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth.

” It was a dry unnoticeable place.

Jesus was among the common people and travelled with dirty, smelly fishermen.

He said, “The Son of Man hath no place to lay His head.”

And although His last week was so world-altering in Jerusalem culminating with Jesus going to the cross and rising from the grave; he had to be identified by a kiss in the garden to distinguish Him from the rest of his disciples.

I am glad Jesus didn’t float around on a cloud when He came to be our Saviour.

For he identifies with me.

Hebrews says. “We don’t have a high priest who is not touched with our infirmities.

He suffered disappointment, heartache, betrayal, and ultimately indignity.

But that did not change who He is to us today.

He was the Son of Man but also the Son of God who provided salvation by the sacrifice of Himself.

He identified with our every need yet loved us enough to die for us.

That is how much God loves us and will give us this type of love if we accept Jesus into our life.

Amen 🕊
