Today, Christianity is a tapestry of diverse expressions, yet it is often divided. This division isn’t merely about different denominations; it becomes problematic when individuals who identify as “Christian” share a distorted gospel. Just as some Jewish leaders in Jesus’ time challenged him because they disagreed with his teachings, we see parallels today where some resist the fullness of his message.
Paul reminds us of the profound truth that there is “One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism, One Lord of All.” If we embrace this truth, we must ask ourselves why we sometimes view certain baptisms as more valid than others. If the Lord is indeed Lord of all, why do some people claim a more exclusive relationship with Him?
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul chastises them for their divisions: “I am of Paul, and I am of Apollos.” He emphasises that regardless of who brought them to Christ, what truly matters is that they came to Him at all. Let us joyfully unite in our mission to overcome divisions and celebrate the shared blessing of being baptised into Christ Jesus, our Lord! We can foster a spirit of love and collaboration among all believers
