The Fear of the Lord: The
Foundation of True Knowledge
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and
instruction.” -Proverbs 1:7 ESV

In this verse, we are reminded that true
knowledge begins with a reverential fear of
God. It is not about being afraid of punishment
or wrath, but about having a deep respect and
devotion for our Creator.

This fear of the Lord
leads to a life of worship, obedience, and a
desire to know Him more deeply.

On the
other hand, fools are those who despise
wisdom and instruction.

They reject the
knowledge of God and His ways, choosing
desires and
instead, to follow
their own
opinions.

They scoff at the idea of seeking the
truth and understanding that comes from a
relationship with God.

As we reflect on this
verse, let us examine our own hearts and
attitudes towards wisdom and instruction.

Are
we humbly seek to grow in knowledge and
understanding of God, or are we foolishly
ignoring His teachings and rejecting His ways?

May we always remember that true wisdom
comes from the fear of the Lord.

Let us be wise
in our pursuit of knowledge and continually
seek to grow in our relationship with the Lord
through reading and reading His Word.
