Do you think you need God? I bet your answer is “yes” just as mine is.
But some people don’t think that God is necessary in their lives.
Just as the Pharisees and the scribes believed that they didn’t need God, there are people today who feel the same.
The first letter of John says that we are all sinners.
I’m willing to bet that there are many today who don’t think that they sin.
I try very hard to live as Christ wants me to, but there are times when I know I’m not as kind or forgiving as I might be.
There are times when I judge others without even realizing it!
There have been people in my life that I no longer have in my life because I didn’t reach out to them even when I knew that they were in need.
I was too preoccupied with my own needs.
Just because we aren’t lying, stealing or cursing, doesn’t mean that we are free from sin.
Besides the need for ongoing forgiveness, I need to know that God is with me.
This knowledge keeps me going, knowing that I can depend on him to answer my prayers, keep me out of trouble, and help me when I grieve.
Knowing that I am promised eternal life if I keep my eyes on him gets me through the days when life isn’t going so well, and gives me joy on the days when it feels as though anything is possible.
What are your reasons for needing God in your life?
Forgiveness, hope, help in times of trouble, gratitude for our blessings?
