I visited Kurseong in Darjeeling, a scenic hill station in West Bengal, India, and decided to try their Veg Fried Rice with Hot Garlic Chicken Chili. This dish is supposed to be a fusion of Chinese and Indian flavors, but I found it to be average and mild spicy. The rice was cooked well, and the vegetables were very fresh or crunchy.
The chicken was tender, but the garlic sauce was less sweet, tangy and spicy, lacked the tanginess of vinegar it tasted pale. The dish was satisfactory in the colder foggy weather of misty Kurseong, but it could have been better with more spices and flavor.
Lots of raw arrowroot paste which was under cooked turned into real disaster. I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars. It is according to my taste buds, but I always respect local culture and traditional cuisine at the same time.
