Robbery charges | Manunda

Police have charged two 15-year-old Manoora girls following an alleged armed robbery incident on Hoare Street in Manunda, overnight.

It will be alleged at around 11:30pm the two girls approached a 55-year-old woman and threatened her whilst holding a knife. The girls fled on foot after stealing the woman’s handbag.  

Police attended and located the two girls nearby. They were arrested and transported to the watchhouse.

The two 15-year-old girls were each charged with one count of robbery whilst armed and in company. One girl was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court today, September 19. The other girl will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Drug and traffic charges | Manoora

Police have charged a 38-year-old woman following an investigation into an alleged drug and traffic incident on Oregon Street in Manoora, yesterday September 18.

It will be alleged at 3pm detectives from the Cairns Property Crime Unit intercepted a stolen vehicle being driven by the woman.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle where it will be alleged, officers located a quantity of dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine, MDMA and cannabis), and drug paraphernalia.

The woman was required to provide an initial roadside drug test, returning a positive result. It will be alleged she then provided a further saliva analysis, returning a positive reading.

The woman’s licence was immediately suspended, and she was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing drug utensils, and one count of driving whilst under the influence of drugs (UID).

She is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 5.
