AceBreakingNews – Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 12-year-old girl with murder following a fatal stabbing of a woman in Melbourne’s inner west.

The charge follows an incident at a Barkly Street house in central Footscray where a 37-year-old woman was found dead shortly before 2am on Thursday.

On Thursday evening, police said the girl had been charged with one count of murder.

She has been remanded to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

Earlier, Victoria Police said the girl was quickly arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for assessment.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
