Let’s make us up a GOD, the “best” one we can;
(S)HE may SEEM kind of stupid & may (seem to) not have (much of) a plan,
But we will make up Our GOD, kind of like a movie director,
Who might STILL cast people to play characters like Hannibal Lector,
But Our GOD, in The End, will make such ones have a change of heart,
Like Ebenezer Scrooge who, at the end of the show, did surely part,
From nasty, cruel, brutish ways, and everything was then OK.
And Tiny Tim will certainly walk again, and we will shout: “Hooray.”
So, Our GOD will make movies that have wonderful, happy endings.
Our GOD will take all the suffering and tears & apply heartfelt mendings,
So that, when everything is said and done,
We can look back with tears on all of this and say:
“I guess it was sort of fun.”
And Our GOD will say: “Sorry, I knew it was pretty rough,
But I had to refine y’all, I had to give you enough,
Trials and tests to make sure you’d be ready,
For some real wonderful living AND so you’d be kind and steady.
“Well,” we’ll say, “we guess we’re gonna let you slide this time,
Especially, since, at the end of it all you’ve provided us with such great rhyme,
To explain this apparent mess that we all had to go through.”
“It’s all been quite the adventure,” sayeth The Lord;
“[And remember:] I’M CRAZY IN LOVE WITH YOU.”
