Tonight (Saturday, 09/21/2019) at The Studio Auditorium in The Francois Fine Arts Building at Sul Ross State University, I am told there is an interesting “One Man Show” by a lyrical, theatrical “rap artist” named Austin Ashford. It has received high praise, and I think this is the last night he is “playing” in Alpine. The time of the performance is 7:30 P. M. [CST] The cost is: $10. $8, I think, for older adults and children. It is NOT a long show, but, I think, worth seeing. See you there! 🙂

Austin from Arkansas arrived (on) Alpine Island, one rainy, September Day,
Presenting Shows of a One Man Style, expecting everyone to pay:
So, ONE MAN (pause) brought porridge; another, some cream,
With sugar and cinnamon, to keepUS happyOnTheTeam,
For he saw (with a twinkle in his eye):
“WE ARE OFF ON AN ODYSSEY, FRIENDS to visit Circe & C(S)irens & Cyclops,
In a land without Dennys’ or Stripes (on your back?), and God knows
THERE (there) ain’tNo I-Hops!”
Furthermore,
“Pull yourselves together, You Mot-l-ey Crew,” said Ulysses, feelin’ likeA KING,
“And don’t bring much food, free your wives from The House and children too;
HERE’S THE THING:
We may not come back to these lands a-again,
So, we’d best give up all of that virtue AND sin,
And stay right BALANCED, kinda neutral and Buddhist!”
And, you know, “they” all say THAT HE’S ONE OF THE GROOVE-ist,
CHARACTERS ’round here; “See my Heart? It could be pure,
‘Cause I’ve won ANOTHERpRIZE for being:
‘TOO DARNED DEMURE.’ “
