“DEPENDENCY CAN BE TIME CONSUMING.” a poem a.k.a.: “Do What You Do Without Fetters.” November 24, 2019 (SUNDAY)
She often went to The Doctors’ perhaps 10 times a year;
We thought SHE had [you know] “psycho so matic fear.”
BUT (we found out) She was just in love with the doctor; he didn’t even know.
And that is why our friend Madelyn to the doctor would (often) go.
She went to all the churches for all the potlucks and the knitting;
We thought it was ALLabout the attention she was getting,
But she just liked to socialize; that’s how Madelyn was;
She enjoyed political “banter,” like “RepublicanDemocraticBUZZ.”
She was at The Food Bank , and she drove poor Hank around;
She was always “on call,” and (we thought) DEPENDENCY HAD FOUND,
MADELYN, a martyr, AS ITS UNWITTING VICTIM,
But WHAT DID WE KNOW? with our assumptive, rash dictum.
AsForUs? We engaged in activities, AND KNEW WE WERE “STUCK,”
‘Cause we were dependent on ALL [of] THIS; weThought: “WithoutTheseThings,
We’d be out of luck.”
WE ONLY THOUGHT [THAT] DEAR MADELYN was in “The Same Boat,
Yet, after she gave away her property, her car and her mink coat,
SHE WAS JUST FINE. WE? We would have been devastated,
Since weWere so dependent, [the thought of] “Independence” we hated;
Thus, we had no free time to do anything,
WeWereSO DEPENDENT on so much; DEPENDINGness CAN BRING,
A GREAT DEAL OF RESTRICTION, for you’ve no time for YOU;
However, for Madelyn this thing was no true,
For, when it was TIME forHerToGo, EVERYTHING she could JUST DROP;
Proving that SHE’S WASN’T DEPENDENT, for she could GRACEFULLY STOP,
Whatever it was she was doing or whatever SHE had.
We are just jealous dependents, and she makes US mad.
So, she did what she did, ’cause her time was ALL HERS;
SHE WAS “FLOWING THROUGH LIFE” WITHOUT ANY FET TERS.
