“THE CHANGERS.” a poem, a.k.a.: “Those Who Say, ‘Just Say I’m Right.’ ” December 24, 2019 (Tuesday)
If you want FRIENDS, real friends, My Friend, seek those who tend to support you,
Who are NOT always trying to MOLD and SHAPE. (pause)
Here’s, perhaps, a clue:
About how to spot potential “non friends” (Let’s call them CHANGERS)
They’re the ones who say: “I NEED,
YOU TO BE LIKE T H I S (pause) & DO THESE THINGS INDEED.
So, you’ll conform to MY STANDARDS? for, if you can not do,
The things THAT I DESIRE, I’ll withdraw my friendship.”
But, isn’t it true:
That that kind of DIRECT PRESSURE seems to be a dead giveaway,
That that person wants you dependent upon them, and (you know)
“DEPENDENCY,” I say,
Is one of those things that may be best to steer away from, if you can.”

I think it’s pretty certain (that) IF YOU WANT TO BE “AN INTEGRAL MAN,”
YOU’VE GOT TO LIVE YOUR LIFE WITH INNER PURPOSE,
AND A FEELING THAT YOU D O N ‘ T NEED,
SOMEONE IN PARTICULAR TO “TAKE CARE OF YOU.” (pause)
Now, I’M NOT SAYING (to) secede,
From your family or your nation, for friends are very important, of course.
(Moral) “Just try to spot THE CHANGERS;
They ENJOY using lots of subtle force.
