Kindness & Love XX ❤️❤️ says If Music Be The Food of Love Play On

The analysis, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Network Open, confirmed “music interventions are linked to meaningful improvements in wellbeing”, as measured quantitatively via standardised quality-of-life survey data.

“Music,” wrote the late neurologist Oliver Sacks, “has a unique power to express inner states or feelings. Music can pierce the heart directly; it needs no mediation.”

A new analysis has empirically confirmed something that rings true for many music lovers – that singing, playing or listening to music can improve wellbeing and quality of life.

A review of 26 studies conducted across several countries including Australia, the UK and the US has found that music may provide a clinically significant boost to mental health.

Seven of the studies involved music therapy, 10 looked at the effect of listening to music, eight examined singing and one studied the effect of gospel music.

The effects were similar whether participants sang, played or listened to music.

The authors of the meta-analysis suggest that the benefit of music to mental quality of life was close in effect to improvements in mental health due to exercise and weight loss.

“Future research is needed to clarify optimal music interventions and doses for use in specific clinical and public health scenarios,” the authors said, emphasising that there was “substantial individual variation in responses to music interventions” across the studies analysed.

“Many of us know from personal experience how profound a music intervention can be at times that include surgery, ill-health or mental health episodes,” said Kim Cunio, an associate professor and convener of musicology at the Australian National University, who was not involved in the research.

“This study makes the connection between our personal experiences and a growing body of data of peer-reviewed research that makes the case for music as a frontline intervention in our health system.

“All of us are experts in music because we’ve spent thousands of hours listening to music, codifying it in our brain and responding to it. Is it any wonder what when we listen to music, something remarkable happens?

“When I’m feeling that things are a little bit hard, I turn to music like we all do. Sometimes that music is a deliberate echo of how I’m feeling … sombre and sad. But sometimes I need music of a completely different feeling that can snap me out of that space.

“This is the true wonder of music – that there is no rule as to what is best to listen to. We have to follow the heart.”

Anyone who is not connected with music or, on the contrary, has begun to show interest in it, may be mistaken in the fact that to create a high-quality song, a musician will only need to record vocals in a recording studio and it will all sound great. The key to the professional sound of […]

(LONDON) David Bowie’s estate has sold the publishing rights to his “entire body of work” to Warner Chappell Music, including hundreds of songs such as Space Oddity, Changes and Let’s Dance #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Jan.05: WCM now has global music publishing rights to his song catalogue, the singer’s estate told the BBC: WCM head Guy Moot said they were “proud” to be “chosen as caretakers”.

#AceFilm&Music Desk says according to BBC Entertainment Report: David Bowie: Singer’s estate sells rights to his entire body of work to WCM & Variety suggested the deal was worth “upwards of $250m (£185m)”, but the terms of the agreement were not given.

David Bowie
David Bowie, pictured in 1992, released 26 studio albums during his lifetime

Bowie died of cancer in 2016. He was hailed as an extraordinary artist and genius in a huge global outpouring of tributes from fellow music stars, including Sir Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Brian Eno and Madonna among others.

The agreement with WCM includes the 26 studio albums released during Bowie’s lifetime and the posthumous studio album release, Toy, plus the two studio albums from Tin Machine – the rock supergroup fronted by Bowie.

Tracks released as singles from soundtracks and other projects are also included.

Given the ups and downs of the music industry over the last 20 years, the appeal of a big cheque is, perhaps, unsurprising – especially for ‘heritage’ acts.

Streaming may not quite have replaced the billions lost by the decline of the CD, but it is, for many established artists, proving to be a regular, and largely recession-proof, income stream; and for record labels and a number of new firms who have entered the market, this is, they think, a lucrative asset.

With the music industry becoming ever more complicated, with licensing deals over streaming, adverts, films, video games and online video to negotiate, the artists – or their estates and families – have a large and hassle-free deposit in the bank, and the complicated job of turning music into money is left to the experts.

With Spotify adding 60,000 songs to its catalogue every day, the chance of a new act making a splash seems tougher than ever – legacy artists with 50 years of fame and proven sales look like a relatively safe bet.

Bowie released a total of 111 singles, averaging two per year during his career, and 51 music videos.

This deal follows huge names, including Bruce SpringsteenBob Dylanand Paul Simon, recently selling the rights to their music catalogues.

Moot, who is WCM’s co-chairman and chief executive, said Bowie’s was “one of the most ground-breaking, influential, and enduring catalogues in music history”, adding he had “inspired millions of fans and countless innovators, not only in music, but across all the arts, fashion, and media”.

“These are not only extraordinary songs, but milestones that have changed the course of modern music forever,” he said.

David Bowie: A life in lyrics

He described Bowie’s “vision and creative genius” driving him to “push the envelope, lyrically and musically – writing songs that challenged convention, changed the conversation, and have become part of the canon of global culture”.

The executive added they were looking forward to “tending his unparalleled body of songs with passion and care”.

WCM said the agreement followed last year’s announcement of a dealbetween Bowie’s estate and Warner Music Group [WMG], for it to oversee his full back catalogue of albums between 1968 and 1999.

“Warner Music has licensed worldwide rights to Bowie’s recorded music catalogue from 1968. With this new deal with Warner Chappell, WMG is now home to Bowie’s body of work as both a songwriter and recording artist,” WCM added.

Warner Chappell Music is the global music publishing company of Warner Music Group. WCM co-chair and COO Carianne Marshall said they were “pleased” the estate felt they had the ” knowledge, experience, and resources to take the reins and continue to promote a collection of this stature”.

She called Bowie’s music a “living, breathing collection of timeless songs that are as powerful and resonant today as they were when they were first written”.

Allen Grubman , speaking on behalf of Bowie’s estate, said: “We are truly gratified that David Bowie’s body of music will now be in the capable hands of Warner Chappell Music Publishing. We are sure they will cherish it and take care of it with the greatest level of dignity.”

Bowie’s innovation was not just in the recording studio and in front of the camera – he was also involved in the world of finance. In the mid-90s, Bowie, his financial manager Bill Zysblat, and banker David Pullman came up with a new scheme to generate cash from the singer’s extensive back catalogue.

Bowie introduced the bonds in the late 1990s

In 1997, Bowie sold asset-backed securities, dubbed “Bowie bonds”, which awarded investors a share in his future royalties for 10 years. The securities, which were bought by US insurance giant Prudential Financial for $55m, committed him to repay his new creditors out of future income, and gave a fixed annual return of 7.9%.

He struck a deal with record label EMI which allowed him to package up and sell bonds on royalties for 25 albums released between 1969 and 1990 – which included classics such as The Man Who Sold The World, Ziggy Stardust, and Heroes, according to the Financial Times.

But in 2004, rating agency Moody’s Investors Services downgraded Bowie bonds to only one level above “junk”, the lowest rating, after a downturn in the music industry.

Bowie had already predicted the decline in traditional music sales, telling the New York Times in 2002 that music would become “like running water or electricity”.

Ringo Starr, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, and ‘Saturday Night Live’ comedians Fred Armisen and Vanessa Bayer are among the famous faces to feature in the first ever official music video for George Harrison’s solo song My Sweet Lord #AceNewsDesk report

#AceNewsReport – Jan.04: The video stars former SNL players Armisen and Bayer as metaphysical special agents who are tasked by the head of a clandestine agency, played by Hamill, to ‘search for that which can’t be seen’.

#AceFilm&Music News Desk says Ringo Starr appears with Mark Hamill and Saturday Night Live stars in new music video for George Harrison’s My Sweet Lord By MetroUK

The video has been produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Harrison’s first solo project after The Beatles were no more, the triple album All Things Must Pass.

Harrison died 20 years ago in November, an anniversary which was poignantly marked by both still-living Beatles, Sir Ringo and Sir Paul McCartney.

More than 40 famous faces from the worlds of music, TV, film and comedy star in the piece, which was written and directed by Lance Bangs, who has created videos for the likes of Nirvana, Arcade Fire and Kanye West.

Throughout the video, other agents team up and at one stage Armisen collaborates with Glee actor Darren Criss as they search through a cinema, which leads to Armisen getting popcorn thrown in his face by Sir Ringo for getting in the way while he is trying to watch the screen.

Harrison’s wife Olivia Harrison and their son Dhani Harrison, who was an executive producer on the project, also appear in scenes with actress Aimee Mullins and actor Rupert Friend.

Other appearances include musician Jeff Lynne, who worked closely with Harrison in the late 1980s, as well as Good Omens star Jon Hamm and Rosanna Arquette.

The video also features cameos from musicians Joe Walsh, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Reggie Watts, and comedians Moshe Kasher, Natasha Leggero and Patton Oswalt.

Comedy duos Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim and Garfunkel and Oates (Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci) can also be spotted.

Harrison released All Things Must Pass in 1970, his first post-Fab Four solo project, having previously released the albums Wonderwall Music in 1968 and 1969’s Electronic Sound before The Beatles broke up.

A special 50th anniversary edition of the classic record was released in August with a new mix of the original tapes by Grammy Award-winning musician Paul Hicks, overseen by executive producer Dhani Harrison.

It was announced in 2018 that the solo single My Sweet Lord had topped a chart of the most played songs this century that were released on The Beatles’ Apple Records label.

The track, which was Harrison’s only solo number one single, received more public airplay since 2000 than Imagine by John Lennon and the Liverpool band’s Hey Jude.

Harrison, who was The Beatles’ lead guitarist, died in 2001 at the age of 58.

😁😁😁

Remember When; “‘The Twist’ craze hit Australia in 1960 when the song was a national smash hit for American performer Chubby Checker. Chubby once described the dance moves as ‘like putting out a cigarette with both feet and coming out of a shower and wiping your bottom with a towel to the beat’.

It was the dance craze that spanned the generation gap between young and old because anybody could do it. It came as something of a shock for teenagers and youngsters of the day to see their parents dancing to a song that they also danced to.
