“CRAZY KIDS! CRAZY! FOR YOU!” a poem 28 July 2019 [Sunday]
MARRIAGE – is what people do when they,
Wish to acknowledge INSANITY! in a special way!!
They say: “I DO!”
And “Only YOU,
Are right for ME,
Na- tur – ally!”
And folks come to see and have some cake,
And say: “CRAZY KIDS REALLY MAKE,
THE WHEELS OF CULTURE – SPIN AROUND – &-this’ll-pass-by,”
While other crazy people come – with LOVE in their eye,
And ROMANCE in their HEART! It’s-just-a-drug,
Which-you-get-from-being-bit-by-a-bug!
IT’S LIKE AN INFECTION! IT’S LIKE THE PLAGUE!
LOVE-IS-GREAT, then – you beg,
Your spouse? (for the rest of your existence?) “Don’t-hurt-me-too-much,”
And, sometimes, you get a spouse – who’ll touch-and-touch,
You all over place – and give you NO PEACE!
GOD’S TRICKED ANOTHER PAIR! COMMON SENSE DOTH CEASE,
WHEN, FOR SOME REASON, THESE HEART MAGNETS START TO PULL,
For “Elsie Cow!” and – her special bull,
And THEY THINK: “Now-everything’s-gonna-be-OK, I-found-The-Perfect-One;
WE WILL HAVE (I’m sure) SO MUCH FUN!”
Then, YOU REALIZE – The World still presents a lot of people, pretty gals & gents,
And there’s so much temptation – There is a lot,
But, if you’re lucky and sensible, you hold on to what you got,
And you say: “I LOVE YOU, Oh Tried & True, (pause)
I still and always will be – CRAZY for YOU!”
