I took in a rat yesterday that was found stunned, in the middle of the road, by an extremely caring individual. 🐀

As you can see, there are some abrasions to the body. 🐀

Some might ask why I choose to accept a rat. 🐀

It’s ironic since a few days ago, I found myself unable to keep silent when I saw a post on a local town page regarding killing a rat and their dog squeezing the last squeak out of it. 🐀

I was shocked & horrified by the comments & jokes that followed. 🐀

I’m not naive. 🐀

I understand entirely that animals coming into houses and infestations can be a problem that needs to be dealt with. 🐀

What I can’t understand are the people that have little to no compassion for an animal that’s just trying to survive. 🐀

I can tell you that every animal I’ve taken in feels pain, gets scared & does not deserve to suffer simply for being there. 🐀

The world would be a whole lot better if we all showed a little more compassion & empathy 🐀
