Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity is characterised by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing.
Creativity is the process of bringing something new into being. Creativity requires passion and commitment. It brings to our awareness what was previously hidden and points to new life. The experience is one of heightened consciousness: ecstasy.
Aptitude is what fuels big ideas, challenges our way of thinking, and opens the door to new business opportunities. “Creativity” and “innovation” are often used interchangeably for that reason, but are two separate concepts. Creativity was ranked as the number one factor for future business success—above management discipline, integrity, and even vision.
Not every idea will be a success, but big breakthroughs won’t occur if you play it safe. You need to be comfortable with failure, and give yourself the freedom and flexibility to experiment with and explore new opportunities.
Creativity is an important element of a successful business mindset. Creativity can be elusive. It’s not something you can summon at will. It happens when it happens, it’s unpredictable.
As a business owner who wants to be creative, the best thing you can do is get out there in the open world and open yourself up to new experiences. Be curious about many different things. Develop hobbies. Challenge yourself. The more you push your limits the more you’re charging your creative batteries. With those batteries charged, it’s much more likely that inspiration will strike.
