“REMEMBER: THE THREE S’s.” a poem for Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019.
STAND straight; walk tall,
Have your SELF a real ball.
And (pause) SMILE pretty; any smile will do,
Even with no teeth, it’s good for you,
To try and SMILE throughout the day;
Look in the mirror. SMILE! Hurray!
And keep those shoulders back, andTheHeadRightUp,
“Sipping” ALL DAY “a loving cup!”
AND WHAT’S THE 3rd “S?” Did you guess?
What’s No. 3 thatWe’ll getTo address?
The tension’s MOUNTING; have you got it?
It’s SO OBVIOUS: cross some T’s and iFyouGotAn”I,” just dotIT.
NO. 3, OF COURSE, IS: SHARE,
Share your smile and confident air;
Give it freely TO EVERY ONE,
SO ALL THE GOOD FOLKS CAN HAVE SOME FUN.
At first, THERE’S ONE; NOW, maybe 2;
See all the good that you can do?
TO BE A GOOD EXAMPLE, TO SHOW THE WAY;
Pretty soon, your WHOLE TOWN’s happy all day.
STANDING straight; SMILEing proud;
Now, you’re (just?) another one in the crowd,
Of HAPPY TEXANS, all around;
YIPPEE! WHAT A STATE in which weAre found.
Then, The Nation; then, The WorldIsSHARIN’&SMILI(o)N’
And STANDING straight. ThisIs SuchAn IR ON nnnnnn
Y (ee) that one goofy twit like YOU can have such an affect,
On THE WORLD and Universe, where we can ALL reflect,
THE BEST THAT HUMANKIND CAN GIVE;
SMILE, STANDuP, SHARE: What a way to live.
