Police were called shortly after 4:15pm to reports of the stabbing on Raby Street, Manchester. The 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment but despite the best efforts of emergency services, he tragically passed away a short time later. His family have been notified and are being supported by specially trained officers. A scene remains in place and a section 60 order has been implemented, which grants temporary extended stop and search powers in the areas outlined in the maps in order to aid the investigation. These powers were implemented at 8:30pm on Thursday 4 April 2024 and will end at 8:30pm on Friday 5 April 2024.
Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles said:
“ This is a tragic and senseless loss of life and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this time. They will remain at the forefront of our minds as we move forwards in our investigation to track down the person or persons responsible. “ Whilst no arrests have been made at this time, I want to assure the local community that a visible police presence will be in place in the local area over the coming days for reassurance and to carry out enquiries as we work tirelessly to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice. “ We are continuing to appeal for any information or relevant footage – including mobile, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam. Any information you have will be treated with the strictest confidence and if you do have information to share, I urge you to do the right thing and report it to police.”
Additional patrols in Moss Side, as neighbourhood officers speak to the community
Neighbourhood officers are working alongside detectives to provide additional reassurance to residents following the death of Prince Walker. Neighbourhood Sergeant Dave Fenton, who is a familiar face in the area, has been working with the team to provide a visible presence the area. He said: “We always want our presence to be a reassuring one, but we understand that this visible presence is especially important now more than ever to our local community after the devastating news yesterday.

“We have stepped up local patrols in the area to provide a visible presence in the area.
“We continue to work with partner agencies and local authorities to minimise any disruption caused to the community, as there is a scene on Raby Street with road closures, and we are doing all we can to keep our residents safe and to ensure we remain engaged with the local community and we are here to answer any of your concerns. “ Local work is ongoing to tackle knife crime, and we continue to work hard to engage our young people through school visits to encourage a culture of reporting. “ We are out and about in the area, we are here to provide support and reassurance to the local community and to reiterate that this kind of violence has no place on our streets, and will not be tolerated.

“We are asking those living around Raby Street to check their CCTV and anything that doesn’t seem right or seems suspicious – please contact us. “We are also appealing to parents, teachers and neighbours, if you notice anything suspicious. Please let us know.
