The Best Poem in the World
I was shocked, confused, and bewilderedÂ
As I entered Heaven’s door.Â
Not by the beauty of it all,Â
Nor the lights or decor.Â
But it was the people in HeavenÂ
Who made me sputter and gaspâÂ
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,Â
The alcoholics and the outcasts.Â
There stood the kid from seventh gradeÂ
Who swiped my lunch money twice.Â
Next to him was my old neighbourÂ
Who never said anything nice.Â
Bob, whom I always thoughtÂ
Was rotting away in hell,Â
I was sitting pretty on cloud nine,Â
It looks perfect.Â
I nudged Jesus, âWhatâs the deal?Â
I would love to hear Your take.Â
How did all these sinners get up here?Â
God mustâve made a mistake.Â
And why is everyone so quiet,Â
So sombreâgive me a clue.âÂ
âHush, child,â He said, âTheyâre all in shock.Â
No one thought theyâd be seeing you.âÂ
Judge Not!
Remember, just going to church doesnât make you a Christian any moreÂ
Then, standing in your garage makes you a car.Â
Every saint has a past;Â
Every sinner has a future
