“CARRYING ON OUR FAMILY TRADITIONS!” a poem a.k.a.: “Love Is About Companionship!”* for: 28 August 2019 (Wed.)
“It’s too-good to-be true!” and “This will-never work!”
“The World will-NEVER let us!” and “I am a jerk!”
“Romance can-not last!” and “We-are ALL-doomed!”
“Surely, in-no-time-at-all, we’ll-all be-entombed!”
WHAT CHANCE REALLY IS THERE, FOR HAPPINESS HERE?
Shouldn’t we just kill ourselves – and save-us a[nother] tear?
As I sat, sitting in hopelessness, it occurred to me today,
Something to make us jump and shout and feel OK:
Something like: PAST GLORY and GOOD FUTURES too!
O. M. G.! It’s-our parents’ lives! Examples so true!
For, our parents had romance – caring – and holding-on long,
And LOVE, lots of sharing – and singing their song,
Of: “I-simply adore -you and I’ll-never leave,
And I-love-being with-you, as life’s-tapestry we-weave!”
If people say: “Love’s imperfect!” We’ll snuggle and kiss,
And then they’ll say: “Those two are crazy!” but we’ll never miss,
On one thread of excitement, no matter how subtle,
Just like our parents, jumping-around in a puddle!
SINGING IN THE RAIN and holding hands for-ever,
Never noticing what others – call “in-cle-ment weather!”
So, whether things are X or Y or Z,
We’re-happy-modeling-our-loving-parents!
Now, it’s YOU and ME!
