#AceBreakingNews – A Thai massage therapist who worked and resided in Kensington has been jailed for 11 years after sexually assaulting two women.

Massage therapist jailed for sexually assaulting clients

Detectives are now appealing for others who may have been sexually assaulted by him to come forward.

Mongkhon Thopwan, 54 (2.04.68) of North End Road, West Kensington was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 24 June, after being convicted on Monday, 21 March, of five counts of assault by penetration and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without their consent, following a six-day trial.

Detective Constable Natalie Witt, the investigating officer from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:

” I applaud the tremendous courage and bravery of these two women, as without their evidence we would not have been able to remove this sexual predator from our streets.

”The circumstances of the offences meant there was no forensic or CCTV evidence available and it was the powerful testimonies of these women which secured the convictions. I would appeal to anyone who has been victim of a similar attack to contact the police.”

The court heard from two independent victims that Thopwan had on two separate occasions, seven months apart, abused his position of trust as a masseur by seriously sexually assaulting them. Both women reported the attacks to police.

The second victim, using the pseudonym Molly, has since said:

” I considered keeping this serious assault a secret and staying silent because I really really could not bear the thought of ever repeating what happened. It felt too weird, humiliating and hideous. When I think now about the anger, sadness and anxiety that would have eaten at my soul had I not said something, that hurts.

“Running on adrenaline and complete panic I phoned my best friend and she persuaded me to phone the police, oh gosh am I glad I did, it was instantly ‘not my secret’. It was out there ‘away’ from me, ‘away’ from my heart, ‘away’ from my soul. And as a result I had a crazy supportive network holding me up and holding me tight. Within an hour of telling the police what happened this man was arrested and spent three months in jail before being bailed on strictest of conditions.”

The first attack occurred on 1 November 2020 when a woman in her 20s attended the Thai massage parlour at Nine Lucksa on North End Road in West Kensington for massage therapy. Thopwan was arrested two days later and was bailed with strict conditions whilst detectives continued with their enquiries.

A disclosure of the offence was made by the investigating officer to Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Council. At this time the premises were closed due to the pandemic.

The Met’s licensing team and Hammersmith and Fulham Council worked together to ensure that neither Thopwan’s therapist’s licence, nor the business licence for Thai Massage Nine Lucksa, were renewed. Both were effective from 1 December 2020.

A second victim, a woman in her 30s, was sexually assaulted on 17 June 2021 at the same location. Thopwan was arrested on 18 June 2021.

He was charged with the above offences on 19 June 2021 and remanded in custody. During this time Thopwan was not registered to work.

DC Natalie Witt, added:

” Thopwan is an extremely dangerous offender who targeted these women when they were at their most vulnerable.

“Their crucial evidence led to his conviction and has ensured Thopwan cannot subject anyone else to such horrific attacks.

“I would again urge anyone who has been a victim of a similar attack to speak to us directly quoting 8803/02NOV20.

“We have specially trained officers who will help and support you.

“Alternatively contact us through a third party support group such as The Havens or London Survivors Gateway who offer a 24/7 urgent advice number if you need to speak with someone for the first time.”

#AceDailyNews says here’s todays Newspaper headlines: Its all about PM plans for third term & curbing unions trying for ‘ Big Pay Rises ‘ under auspices of ‘ Planned Redundancies & Holding Country to Ransom ‘ Kindness & Love XX says 🙏🙏’s for ‘ Common Sense to Prevail ‘ Amen

The headline in the Observer reads "PM's plan for third term 'delusional'"
A variety of stories lead Sundays papers. The Observer reports that senior Conservative MPs have accused Boris Johnson of “increasingly delusional behaviour” after he said he was already planning for his third term as prime minister. The paper also reveals that a Tory donor has been given a top role at the heart of the UK’s honours system.

‘ Crackdown on militant unions’

The headline in the Sunday Express reads 'Crackdown on militant unions'
The Sunday Express reports that Boris Johnson has been urged not to “give an inch” to striking rail staff amid fears a contagion of industrial action would “grind the economy to a halt”. Attorney General Suella Braverman says it’s time to take on left-wing radicals, the paper adds.
The headline in the Sunday Telegraph reads 'PM imposes steel tariffs to win back Red Wall'
The Sunday Telegraph leads with reports that Boris Johnson will risk fresh allegations he is breaking international law this week, as he imposes “sweeping new steel tariffs” as part of an effort to win back support in so-called “red wall” seats. The paper reports that the prime minister is preparing to hit several developing countries with new “safeguard” import limits designed to protect UK manufacturers from a “flood of cheap steel” from overseas.
The headline in the Sunday Mirror reads 'Priti breaks law in another asylum scandal'
The Sunday Mirror reports that Home Secretary Priti Patel has “broken the law again” over her treatment of asylum seekers. The paper says the High Court ruled that housing refugees in “shoddy barracks in Kent” until 2026 was in breach of the Equality Act. It comes as Ms Patel’s Rwanda resettlement scheme for asylum seekers faces ongoing legal issues, the paper adds.
The headline in the Sunday Times reads 'Charles accepted €1m cash in suitcase from sheikh'
The Sunday Times reports that the Prince of Wales accepted a suitcase containing €1m in cash from a controversial Qatari politician.
The headline in the Sunday People reads 'I quit for Coleen'
And the Sunday People reports that former England footballer Wayne Rooney walked away from his job as boss of Derby County to spend more time with his wife Coleen and their children.
BBC News Daily on Facebook Messenger

A former Conservative cabinet minister accuses Boris Johnson of being “delusional” in the Observer, over the suggestion he might fight two more elections. The Sun on Sunday says “his boast was met with disbelief by senior Tories”.

The Sunday Mirror calls the prime minister “deluded” and “shameless” for trying to brush off what it describes as “humiliating by-election thrashings”. But the Mail on Sunday suggests he is being “defiant” and goading his critics, describing it as a “welcome bucket of cold water” thrown over the foolish Conservative figures who are sabotaging their own movement.

The Sun on Sunday describes Boris Johnson’s suggestion that he could win not only the next general election but the one after as “ludicrous grandstanding.” Its editorial urges him, “never mind a third term… focus on lasting the summer”. The Sunday Mirror calls him “brazen” in “threatening to cling to power for 12 years”. Writing in the Observer, commentator Andrew Rawnsley dismisses the plan, saying “whatever he’s been inhaling it’s not reality”.

The Sunday Telegraph suggests the prime minister will finalise plans this week to impose steel tariffs on several developing countries and extend current limits on other nations, including China. The move, the Telegraph says, will risk fresh allegations that he is breaking international laws. The changes were raised by Lord Geidt when he resigned as Mr Johnson’s ethics adviser, saying they put him in an “odious position.” A No 10 source said that the government would “act in the national interest”.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson
A former Tory cabinet minister accused Boris Johnson of being “delusional” over the suggestion he might fight two more elections, the Observer reports

Both the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People say that Home Secretary Priti Patel has broken the law again over her treatment of asylum seekers. They cite a High Court ruling against plans to house refugees until 2026 in what the Mirror describes as “dilapidated” barracks in Kent.

The judge said this breached the Equality Act and that using Napier Barracks in Folkestone for five years was significantly different from doing so for two months. The Home Office said it was pleased that the court found in its favour on seven of eight grounds and maintained that using the site was better than relying on expensive hotels.

Many of the papers pick up on the Sunday Times’ lead story about the euro notes totalling more than £2.5m that Prince Charles is reported to have accepted for charity on separate occasions from a Qatari politician. The Mail describes it as a “new royal bombshell” with the biographer, Tom Bower, likening the reports that carrier bags were stuffed with some of the money to a scene from the television comedy, Only Fools and Horses. All the papers stress there was no suggestion of any illegality. Clarence House says all the correct processes were followed.

Writing in the Mail, Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries explains why she is setting a “very clear line” that “competitive women’s sport must be reserved for people born of the female sex”. She says she wants all sporting governing policies to follow this policy, arguing that those born male who go through puberty have a body with physical advantages over women, that make them stronger and faster.

The LGBTQ plus rights charity, Stonewall, tells the Express that “trans inclusion in sport” requires “nuanced, evidence-based discussion” not what it calls “inflammatory rhetoric”.

And with rising prices, the Sunday Telegraph notes it is not surprising that the market for champagne has gone flat. Average prices for Moet, Bollinger and Laurent Perrier have all gone up markedly. But the Telegraph’s editorial points out it is good news for British producers of sparkling wine as people reach for cheaper fizz.
