A woman from the UK has died after having cosmetic surgery on the popular holiday island of Mallorca.
The unnamed woman had it at a private clinic in Palma in mid-September from a surgeon who worked in the Mallorcan capital and had travelled around Europe.
During this operation a ‘series of complications’ arose and she was rushed to Son Espases University Hospital in Palma but died some hours later.
The type of cosmetic surgery the woman had is unclear.
A court on the island is now investigating her death and the family travelled to Mallorca to take care of her body.
Investigators will now ascertain whether her death was caused by medical negligence.
But Majorcan newspaper Ultima Hora described the surgeon as someone ‘who has spent decades working in Palma and other European countries.’
Police or court officials have yet to provide any official comment about the death.
