#AceDailyNews says here’s todays Newspaper Headlines: Its all about ‘ Energy Cap Plan ‘ and its possible removal as opposition parties plan to get oneupmanship on Tories as parties fall out over best way forward in the crisis Kindness & Love XX says 🙏🙏’s Amen

The headline in the Observer reads: "Starmer to demand halt to autumn hike in energy prices"
A variety of stories lead Sunday’s papers. The Observer reports that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is to call for a ban on the rise in the energy price cap set to be introduced this autumn. The paper says the rise would be “crippling” if it goes ahead and that a ban would save the average household £2,000 a year on their gas and energy bills.
The headline in the Sunday Times reads: "Plan to cut extra £400 off fuel costs"
Treasury officials are working on plans that could reduce future rises in energy bills by £400, the Sunday Times reports. The paper says the proposals involve a government-backed lending scheme for suppliers to reduce the amount they need to charge households, though adds the scheme would only be in place in time for the January rise in the price cap, not the one scheduled for October.
The headline in the Sunday Mirror reads: "Human cost of fuel poverty"
The Sunday Mirror leads with a story about a hospital cleaner called Judith who recently died of Covid. The paper says her teenage children lost out on a £30,000 payout from her NHS pension following her death because she quit the scheme in May to cover her soaring energy costs. The sub-headline reads: “Human cost of fuel poverty”.
The headline in the Sunday Express reads: "Truss: I'm on your side"
An interview with Liz Truss, along with an official endorsement of her to be the next prime minister, leads the Sunday Express, although the Express group has been positive in its coverage of Ms Truss right throughout her campaign. The paper quotes Ms Truss saying “we need to be bold” to get through the current economic turmoil and that the UK could be the most prosperous country in Europe.
The headline in the Sunday Telegraph reads: "Sanction Iran over Rushdie stabbing, says Sunak"
Ms Truss’s leadership rival, Rishi Sunak, has said Britain should designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, which protects the country’s regime, a terrorist organisation after Friday’s attack on Sir Salman Rushdie, the Sunday Telegraph reports. The attack followed a religious fatwa against Sir Salman issued in 1989 by the then-Iranian leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, and has been celebrated by Iranian politicians and state media.
The headline in the Sun on Sunday reads: "Max has cheated on me with Maisie"
The Sun on Sunday reports that Stacey Giggs, ex-wife of footballer Ryan Giggs, has accused Wanted singer Max George, who she dated until earlier this year, of cheating on her with Maisie Smith, his co-star during a 2020 stint on Strictly Come Dancing.
The headline in the Star on Sunday reads: "There's only twooo George Bests!"
And the Star on Sunday reports that Alex Best, ex-wife of George Best, believes she is being haunted by the late footballer and another man, also named George Best. The headline reads: “There’s only twooo Georgie Bests!”

A variety of stories lead Sunday’s papers. The Observer leads with calls by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer for the government to block what it describes as “crippling” energy price rises in October. The paper says he came under pressure to act after Gordon Brown demanded an emergency budget.

Writing in the Sunday Mirror, Sir Keir says his party would bring down bills by taxing oil and gas producers making huge profits.

The Sunday Times reports that Treasury officials are working on a multi-billion pound package to knock an extra £400 off energy bills – but not until January. The paper points out there’s no guarantee that either candidate vying to be the next prime minster would take up the proposal.

Writing in the Mail on Sunday, one of those leadership hopefuls, Liz Truss, promises “immediate help with the cost of living,” but offers no new proposals.

In an interview for the Sunday Telegraph, chief secretary to the Treasury Simon Clarke, who supports Ms Truss, urges her to hold firm and set out her plans in September. He criticises the approach of her rival, Rishi Sunak, while chancellor, of giving automatic discounts to all households including the higher earners.

In the Sun on Sunday, Mr Sunak pledges to secure future energy supplies in the UK by increasing investment in nuclear, solar, shale, and offshore wind production.

There’s some speculation about the leadership contest, with a poll of 570 Conservative members carried out for the Observer suggesting Ms Truss has a 22-point lead. The same survey indicates that many still prefer Boris Johnson to either candidate.

According to The Sun, eight in 10 Conservative party members have now cast their vote, which the paper says is a “huge boost” to the foreign secretary’s chances.

The Sunday Express offers the frontrunner its endorsement on its front page. It says Ms Truss has “the vital combination of intellect, guts, conviction and experience” and will bring in a new era of change for Britain.
