#AceDailyNews says here’s todays Newspaper Headlines: Its all about ‘ Rising Food Prices ‘ as across the world everything is rising due to ‘ Interest Rates ‘ and also ‘ Bank Pulling in Their Lending Horns ‘ as a ‘ Recession Bites & Banks Warn of Economic Problems ‘ Kindness & Love XX says 🙏🙏’s for people suffering who will be affected by ‘ Greed ‘ Amen

The Guardian front page
Many of Tuesday’s front pages lead on a warning from the Bank of England’s governor of “apocalyptic” food prices. The Guardian says Andrew Bailey blamed the war in Ukraine for the highest UK inflation for three decades, and said rising food prices could have a disastrous impact on the world’s poor.
The Daily Mail front page
On the same story, the Daily Mail reports the governor felt “helpless” over soaring inflation, and said there was a “very real income shock” ahead.
The Daily Telegraph front page
The Daily Telegraph suggests Mr Bailey’s comments are likely to increase pressure on the Bank of England from Conservative MPs who are “exasperated that he failed to act sooner”. It’s also likely to add pressure on the Treasury to hold an emergency Budget to tackle the cost of living crisis, the paper says.
The Financial Times front page
Meanwhile, the Financial Times says Mr Bailey implied the Bank of England would not shy away from generating a recession to get inflation “back to target”.
The Daily Express front page
The Daily Express says Mr Bailey urged high-earning UK employees not to demand large pay rises – and almost in the same breath reminds readers of the governor’s £575,000 salary.
The Mirror front page
The Daily Mirror appeals to MPs to vote in favour of a Labour proposal to give the hardest-hit households £600 to help with the cost-of-living crisis. The paper says Conservatives will block the plan, which would raise money through a windfall tax on energy firms. A front page picture of Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak is enveloped with the headline “For once, just do the right thing”.
The Daily Star front page
The Daily Star also dedicates its front page to the cost-of-living crisis. It heavily criticises comments from minister Rachel Maclean, who suggested people struggling should consider taking on more hours or moving to a better-paid job. “Don’t be so poor,” its headline reads, in front of a hamster running on a wheel. The paper also points out Ms Maclean earns £106,000 a year and, in its thought for the day, ponders “Where do we apply to become a government minister?”.
The Times front page
The Times says Britain’s petrol retailers have been accused of profiteering from the energy crisis after research found they had failed to pass on nearly half of the Chancellor’s 5p fuel duty cut. Retailers were taking, on average, 2p more in profit per litre of fuel sold than they did before Rishi Sunak reduced duty in March, the paper quotes the RAC as saying.
The Metro front page
Opting for a different lead, the Metro carries comments from teenage striker Jake Daniels, who has become Britain’s first male professional footballer to come out as gay in 32 years. It quotes Daniels, 17, as saying: “The time is right to be myself, be free and be confident with it all.”
The i front page
The i paper has the same top story, leading with Daniels’ quote “I don’t want to lie any more”. The paper says he was met with a chorus of approval, while he says he is motivated by a desire to help change the culture in football.
The Sun front page
The Sun brings us the latest from the so-called Wagatha Christie trial, reporting Coleen Rooney describing messages Rebekah Vardy and her agent exchanged about her as “evil”. Mrs Rooney was giving evidence on day five of a libel case brought by Mrs Vardy, who denies leaking private information about her to the Sun. The trial continues, with Wayne Rooney expected to testify on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the most famous “Wag” of all also makes the Sun front page as the paper reports that Victoria Beckham said in a magazine interview that wanting to be super-thin is now an “old-fashioned” attitude.
BBC News Daily on Facebook Messenger

Blackpool striker Jake Daniels is pictured on several front pages after he became the first active professional male footballer for more than 30 years to announce he was gay.

“I don’t want to lie any more,” is the headline on the i newspaper, while Metro says the 17-year-old has been hailed as an inspiration.

The Sun describes Daniels as a “brave lad”. The paper says he knows he will get homophobic abuse from what it calls a “neanderthal hardcore” of football fans, but that he will endure it and hopefully blaze a trail for other gay players.

Many of the papers lead on what the governor of the Bank of England described as his “apocalyptic” warning about food price rises as he gave evidence to MPs on the Treasury Select Committee.

The Daily Express and the Daily Mail focus on Andrew Bailey’s admission that he is “helpless” in the fight against inflation.

The Financial Times says Mr Bailey deflected the blame for the soaring cost of living onto global “shocks”, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Guardian looks ahead to official figures due out tomorrow, which it says are expected to show the annual inflation rate climbing above 9%.

The Daily Mirror reports on trials of a new drug, which it’s hoped could avoid the need for people with cataracts to have to undergo surgery to get rid of them. The paper describes the treatment – that will now be tested on humans – as a “wonder drug”.

The Times carries an accusation from the RAC motoring organisation that petrol retailers are profiteering by failing to pass on nearly half of the Chancellor’s 5p cut to fuel duty. The claim has been denied by the Petrol Retailers Association, which represents the majority of forecourts in the UK.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mirror urges Conservative MPs to back calls for a windfall tax on energy firms – the proceeds of which would be used to help struggling households.

Labour will seek to force a Commons vote on Tuesday on its amendment which expresses regret that the policy wasn’t included in last week’s Queen’s Speech.

The paper says the Tories are expected to block it. Its headline plea to them is “For once, just do the right thing”.

But according to the i, some Conservative MPs are warming to the idea of a levy. The Guardian quotes shadow energy secretary Ed Miliband, who says the government is “simply running out of excuses” not to impose a windfall tax.

The Daily Star is annoyed at what it describes as “handy top tips” from government minister Rachel Maclean, who suggested in an interview that some people struggling with the cost of living could take on more hours or move to a better-paid job.

“Don’t be so poor” is the paper’s headline – along with an image of a hamster being urged to go faster on its wheel.
