Owning Your Truth
I sat on my dinner table and read over what seemed like a yearβs worth of journal entries. Underlined, a quote from one of my favorite authors read,
Owning Your Truth
On this day of your life
Michael, I believe God wants you to know β¦
β¦ that your thoughts create your reality. Your mind is
more powerful than you know.
Are you worried about something right now? Are you
feeling unsure about something these days? God invites
you to change your thinking. Miracles seldom occur in
the lives of those who do not consider them possible.
There could be a miracle waiting for you this minute.
Please make room for it in your thinking. Thanks.
The old lady handed her bank card to a bank teller and said, βI would like to withdraw $500″.
The teller told her, βFor withdrawals less than $2,000, please use the ATM.β
The old lady wanted to know why β¦
The teller returned her bank card and irritably told her, βThese are the rules. Please leave if there is no other matter. There is a line behind you.β
The old lady remained silent for a few seconds, then handed the card back to the teller and said, βPlease help me withdraw all the money I have.β
The teller was astonished when she checked the account balance. She nodded her head, leaned down and respectfully told her, βMy apologies Ma’am, you have $35 million in your account and our bank doesn’t have so much cash currently. Could you make an appointment and come again tomorrow?
The old lady then asked how much she could withdraw immediately.
The teller told her any amount up to $250,000.
“Well, please let me have $250,000 now”, she requested. The teller did so quickly, then handed it very friendly and respectfully to her elderly client.
The old lady put $500 in her bag and asked the teller to deposit the balance of $249,500 back into her account.
πDon’t be difficult with old people, they spent a lifetime learning the skills.

I offered the following reflection on grief on St. Markβs All Souls Day services on November 2, 2019. I wrote most of it several years ago and have used pieces of it here and there, but I have not published the entire reflection until now.

AlwaysΒ remember to thank God for what he has given you that you didnt ask for.
Jack Mim ~ Wisdom forgiveness
I remember my protector; when young, I went to bed,
He guided me and guarded me to keep my little head,
From being all too frustrated and troubled any day,
We are our own protector in each and every way.
I remember my protector who had courage and devotion,
Having good protectors is a very happy notion,
Where is my protector?
Β I remember his sweet smile,
To not have your protector by your side is very vile.
Oh, Protector, have you gone, or are you hiding out of sight?
Without a kind protector life can be a dreadful fright,
I wish for my protector for I am concerned at night,
And also in the daytime, I am frightened of the light.
I wish I still had someone who would keep me safe from harm,
And would insure some peace of mind to save me from alarm,
But search I have both high and low, and my protector’s gone,
I wish that I was young again;
my night light is not on.
AΒ thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all other virtues.
IΒ need to stop worrying about the future and be thankful for what I have been blessed with so far.

The Universe
Two elderly gentlemenΒ from a retirement center were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says:
‘Slim, I’m 83 years old now and I’m just full of aches and pains. I know you’re about my age. How do you feel?’
Slim says, ‘I feel just like a newborn baby.’
‘Really!?Β Like a newborn baby!?’
‘Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.’
A senior citizen
said to his eighty-year old buddy:Β
‘So I hear you’re getting married?’
‘Yep!’
‘Do I know her?
‘Nope!’
‘This woman, is she good looking?’
‘Not really.’
‘Is she a good cook?’
‘Naw, she can’t cook too well.’
‘Does she have lots of money?’
‘Nope! Poor as a church mouse.’
‘Well, then, is she good in bed?’
‘I don’t know.’
‘Why in the world do you want to marry her then?’
‘Because she can still drive!’Β
ThreeΒ old guys
are out walking.Β
First one says, ‘Windy, isn’t it?’Β
Second one says, ‘No, it’s Thursday!’Β
Third one says, ‘So am I.Β Let’s go get a beer..’
A manΒ was telling his neighbour, ‘I just bought a new hearing aid.Β
It cost me four thousand dollars,Β butΒ it’s state of the art..Β It’s perfect.’Β
‘Really,’ answered the neighbour . ‘What kind is it?’Β
‘Β Twelve thirty..’Β
MorrisΒ , an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.Β
A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.Β
A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, ‘You’re really doing great, aren’t you?’Β
Morris replied, ‘Just doing what you said, Doc:
‘Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.”
The doctor said, ‘I didn’t say that.. I said, ‘You’ve got a heart murmur; be careful.’
One more. . ..!
A little old manΒ shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlour and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool.Β
After catching his breath, he ordered a banana split.Β
The waitress asked kindly, ‘Crushed nuts?’Β
‘No,’ he replied, ‘Arthritis’Β
Now,Β before you ‘forget’, send them on to some other folks you know who could use a good laugh.
